This church was organized in the Summer of 1900. In the beginning, it was the Evangelical Lutheran Church Congregation. All the minutes up to 1930 were written in German. In 1934, the Evangelical Synod of North America and the Reformed Church in the United States had merged into the Evangelicl & Reformed Church. On January 12, 1953, at regular Church Council meeting, a committee of two was appointed to go to Austin to get a new charter for the church, changing the name to the Evangelical & Reformed Church of Weimar. In 1940, the name was changed to the Evangelical Lutheran Church. After 17 years of negotiations, in 1957, the Evangelical & Reformed Church in the U.S. and the Congregational-Christian Church in the U.S. merged, forming the United Church of Christ.
